UNIQUE KEFALONIA |

About Vatsa - Kefalonia |
|
|
Kefalonia’s Unique HideawayVatsa Bay lies on the southern tip of Pali, Kefalonia’s beautiful and unspoilt western peninsula.
The land surrounding Spiaggia Taverna has been in the Antonellos family for over 300 years but there has been a settlement at Vatsa dating back to 3,000 B.C.
A tranquil river flows to the sea through a small, secluded valley bordered by pine and olive trees. On this river local fishermen moor their brightly coloured boats. A golden sandy beach borders the bay which stretches eastwards towards Kounopetra.
In 1934 Spyros’ father, Nikolaos, discovered the remains of an ancient ‘Temple of Posieden’ on his land. There he found a beautifully preserved ancient dolphin mosaic, which can now be viewed in the Archaeological Museum in Argostoli.
Spyro now uses the design on the mosaic as the ‘logo’ for Vatsa Club
The small chapel of Saint Nikolaos, which is open to visitors, stands close to the spot where the ancient remains of the Temple can be found.
